A high-quality benchmarked grazing enterprise on Dubbos doorstep. Under current management the property is operated for breeding and fattening of both sheep and cattle. The Property does have a true mixed farm ability with cropping having been undertaken in the past.

Gilgai Farms spans an area of 2,183 hectares, with the majority sown down to perennial pastures, and a non-seasonal average rainfall of 615* millimetres that underpin a carrying capacity of 13,500 DSE.

Pastures comprise a mixture of native and improved perennial and annual grasses combined with sub-clover, clovers, trefoil and lucerne. The non-seasonal rainfall allows pastures to contain sub-tropical species, bambatsi, purple Pidgeon grass, premier digit grass, warrego summer grass and box grass. Clovers also include arrow-leaf and Haifa white. The outcome is that in a normal season a balanced sward suitable for sheep and cattle can be achieved almost all year round.
